Study Area

Chestnut Hills, Toronto

The study area was meticulously crafted with the intention of providing a comfortable and functional space for children to complete their homework and school activities. The blend of Moroccan inspired furniture and sleek, clean modern-classic design of the home creates a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for sparking creativity and focus. To further promote an optimal learning environment, two strategically placed skylights illuminate the space with natural light and a view of greenery courtesy of a neighbouring tree.

The color scheme of this room was intentionally curated to feature a minimalist yet sophisticated aesthetic, focusing on the natural beauty of white oak hardwood and black walnut accents, which are showcased in the custom-built study cabinet's back panels on either side. The maple cabinet was powder-coated in a crisp white hue and finished with elegantly machined door handles, which not only enhances the room's contemporary design but also adds a touch of refinement to the overall ambiance. Additionally, this room overlooks the kitchen, enabling family members to interact, and seamlessly extending the open concept living space, thus facilitating the management of a busy household.

This room features a built-in speaker system that connects to the home's integrated entertainment and music system, controlled by automation technology. The preset music genres in this space are specifically selected to complement the learning activities, with a focus on classical music, known for its ability to improve focus and enhance cognitive function. To further enhance the room, we incorporated a range of architectural design features, including level changes in the ceilings and flooring, which divide the different areas of the second floor. These clever design elements serve to optimize the room's layout, providing distinct spaces for the activities, while maintaining a harmonious flow throughout.
