Mudroom

Chestnut Hills, Toronto

Welcome to the mudroom, designed for easy access from the driveway to alleviate traffic flow and simplify the organization of the family's outdoor activities. This versatile space features a range of built-in storage and individual compartments for each family member, expertly crafted to accommodate coats and shoes to backpacks and sporting equipment. Additionally, the mudroom includes a powder room, complete with a pocket door to maximize space. This functional yet stylish room offers a seamless transition from outdoor to indoor living, providing a designated area for the family to prepare for their daily adventures, while maintaining the home's clean and organized aesthetic.

The arch door is a continuation of the arch theme that runs throughout the home, bringing a cohesive and harmonious aesthetic to the overall design. Adding to the room's eco-friendly appeal, the black walnut bench was repurposed from a 100-year-old tree that had to be taken down during the home's extension, serving as a fitting tribute to its long life. The cabinets, crafted from solid maple, were powder-coated in a rich forest green hue, adding an element of sophistication to the room's warm and inviting atmosphere. The floors are a baked tile imported from Portugal, and carries an art deco theme.

This is where the rear extension of the home began, and to honour that memory and provide the nineteenth century vibe, we opted to preserve part of the original brick wall. The result is a space that perfectly blends the charm of the past with the innovation of the present, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere that is both familiar and exciting. Furthermore, as you enter the home you'll be greeted by a stunning view of the sleek, modern staircase, which provides a stunning contrast to the room's traditional elements. Together, these design choices offer a beautiful and balanced aesthetic.
