Master Wing
Chestnut Hills, Toronto
The master wing was designed around the functionality and a smooth traffic flow between the bedroom, the walk-in closet and the bathroom. The oversized window was designed as a focal point overlooking a beautiful historical church in Old Toronto, providing a serene and picturesque backdrop to the space. The layout has been carefully planned to optimize the use of the available space, while still maintaining a sense of openness and tranquility. The walk-in closet offers ample storage and includes a custom ladder to reach the top shelves. A study was completed to determine the ideal position of the bed so the couple could wake up with the sunrise each morning. Every detail has been carefully considered to ensure that the master wing is both practical and aesthetically pleasing, providing a comfortable and relaxing retreat for the homeowners.
The walnut headboard and side tables were custom made as a tribute to the fallen black walnut tree that once stood directly beneath the window, infusing the space with a sense of natural beauty and history. The master bathroom has been designed with luxury in mind, featuring high-end finishes and fixtures that create a spa-like atmosphere. The detailed diagonal floor pattern draws the eyes, whilst the surrounding walls and furniture were kept simple. A distinct bright ceramic white and brown colour palette was instilled, to create a serene and timeless ambiance that exudes sophistication and luxury.
The master wing features a ‘catwalk’ we designed to add a touch of classic elegance. The structural complexity of the catwalk was the most challenging aspect of the design, but the end result was truly breathtaking. The glass railings that enclose the catwalk offer unobstructed views of the entire first floor. The design was carefully considered to ensure that the ‘catwalk’ complements the overall aesthetic of the space while also providing a practical function. A true masterpiece that perfectly reflects the unique tastes and preferences of the homeowners.
