Children’s Wing
Chestnut Hills, Toronto
The Children's Wing was designed to be a modern-classic retreat for the kids, where they could play, relax, and have fun. The Jack and Jill bathroom layout was used to optimize the space and create a functional and practical design. The two rooms in this wing gave us more creative freedom, which we fully capitalized on and enjoyed alongside our design team and trades. The result is a bright and colourful space that reflects the playful spirit of the children. The hexagon tiles bleeding into the hardwood flooring add a unique touch to the design.
Notice the tiles were selected to match the bathroom window ;)
The bathroom window was one of the few design elements that we chose to preserve from the original home, in order to maintain continuity with the front exterior. However, the rest of the bathroom was completely redesigned. We incorporated an oversized barn door with custom matte black hardware, which not only adds a touch of industrial chic to the space, but also saves valuable floor space.
For the two kids' rooms, we sourced vintage furniture to add a touch of character and charm to the space. One of the standout pieces was a cabinet that we refinished with a playful pink color, adding a pop of fun to the room. To maximize storage space and keep clutter at bay, we installed floor-to-ceiling built-in closets, which blend seamlessly with the room's design and provide ample storage for toys, clothes, and other belongings. By combining vintage elements with modern touches, we were able to create two unique and functional kids' rooms that are perfect for play and relaxation.
